I recently became fascinated with the work of a young Chinese designer.
Her name is Li Feng, who, after obtaining a master’s degree in Product Innovation Design from Kyushu University in Japan, established a small brand in Shenzhen, China, called mmgood, which creates “creative products for a life shared by humans and cats”.
(Some of her products will be listed in our store gradually.)
For example:
Diving Cat – Cellphone holder

Cat Egg – Cellphone case

A blackfaced cat incense holder

There are countless artistic works (in various forms) that take “cats” as their creative element.
Why do artists love cats so much?
I think there are probably a few reasons:
Reason 1:The mystery of cats
For example: The Cheshire Cat from “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” – a character known for its mysterious smile and unique way of appearing and disappearing, created by British writer Lewis Carroll. It seems to embody an unpredictable, even philosophical existence.

Reason 2:The independence and spirit of freedom of cats
For example: Le Chat Noir – a famous poster Swiss printmaker Théophile Alexandre Steinlen created it for the Le Chat Noir restaurant in Paris, and it has become a masterpiece in the Art Nouveau movement with symbolic meaning, now housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK.

Reason 3:The emotional connection between cats and humans
For example: “The Cat Returns” – a popular animated film Released by Studio Ghibli in 2002, adapted from the manga by 柊あおい, it tells the story of the protagonist 吉冈ハル who saves a prince from the cat kingdom, and the king of cats rewards her.

Reason 4:Cats are just sooooo cute!
For example: “Tom and Jerry”; “Garfield”……
No further explanation is needed!
