Hans Hofmann, an American artist and one of the earliest abstract expressionists, enjoyed using rich color blocks in his paintings.
One of our inspirations comes from one of his late representative works, “Snow White”.
This piece fully interprets Hofmann’s color and space theory — he believed that the relationship between color and form creates a push and pull in depth on the canvas plane, and these intangible forces can lead to certain imbalances in the picture. The essence of painting is to balance these imbalanced forces, and it is here that the painter’s creativity is fully expressed.
